Bahnsen Basic Training Defending the Faith: Part III :  Worldview in Conflict

Page history last edited by michael angelo magat 14 years ago

The third part of Bahnsen's defense is entitle Worldview in Conflict and it is about the people that is antithesis and the different view of the people about reality. The point of Bahnsen here is further enhance the faith of the people to God. This is the quoted summary of part 3 "Unbelievers must think that their lack of faith is not their problem because they have an ax to grind, but rather that it is God's fault. God has not given sufficient evidence. The unbeliever professes to be "open-minded" and "objective"; they simply do not have enough evidence. God is not clear; He has not given them proof of His existence. They would follow the evidence if it really existed. Unbelievers give a picture of Christianity as a leap of faith that requires sacrifice of the intellect and reasoning. They must say it is like this, as the alternative would be to say the problem is with them." These words are giving ideas on the people that has weak faith in God. Bahnsen wants the people to believe in the existence of God. Bahnsen use Romans 1:18 and it says "God has made Himself clear and given us plenty of evidence. He pours His wrath and judgment upon unbelieving cultures and also reveals Himself in creation. The problem is not with Him but with our sin and unbelief. Unbelievers rationalize God away and try justify their unbelief. They invent ideas and worldviews that say it is impossible for finite minds to interact with an infinite God. They make excuses for their sin and declare themselves righteous. They suppress the truth and then say there is no truth to be found. "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them" (Romans 1:20). Make no mistake: God did not fail to get His point across. The problem is sin and unbelief, not lack of evidence."On my conclusion, the 3 training defense give me lots of idea about the existence of God and it deepens my understanding about God and Faith.
